The Mountain Caracara lives in open grasslands of the Andes. It hunts small animals and also feeds on carrion.
Its head, chest, and back are glossy black, while the belly is white.
It catches rodents, birds, and large arthropods, and also eats carrion and rubbish.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
