Rhodospiza obsoleta is a finch of dry parts of Eurasia. The Royal Commission for AlUla’s bird guide records it at Tayma in Saudi Arabia.
It is pale sandy brown, with a short pointed bill, a black-and-white tail, and a pink, white, and black wing pattern. Females are duller; the male has a black bill and lores, while these are pale in the female.
Pairs or small flocks occur in orchards, irrigated fields, plantations, open arid scrub, and towns. They feed on seeds, seedlings, buds, and insects.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
