An older account describes male nominate Himalayan Cutias as flocking in high-elevation forest in summer and moving lower in winter.
In the 1907 account, the male of the nominate subspecies has a black band through the eye, a slate-colored crown, and a chestnut back. Its underparts are white with dark bars on the flanks.
The same historical account says nominate birds flock high in forest in summer and move lower in winter. It lists insects, berries, and seeds as food.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
