The spinifex hopping mouse lives in sandy areas from central Australia into the west. It is active at night, moves by hopping, and digs deep burrows in the sand.
Its back ranges from light brown to chestnut, while the underside is gray to white. A small brush of fur forms at the end of its long tail.
It is active after dark and can live in groups of up to about 10 in deep sandy burrows. It eats mostly seeds, along with insects and green plants, and can meet its water needs from food and metabolic water.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
