This small kingfisher has blue upperparts and honey-colored underparts. It ranges across New Guinea and nearby islands; a Raja Ampat account records it inside forest.
It has deep-blue upperparts, a paler blue back and rump, honey-golden underparts, a black bill, and yellow-orange feet.
The Raja Ampat account places it in lowland and hill forest interiors, often away from water. It perches alone at low or middle levels and searches for arthropods.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
