An endemic cuckooshrike of Madagascar. It uses dry forest, humid evergreen forest and gallery forest, and may join mixed-species flocks in the canopy.
The sexes are similar in size. Males have black heads, chins, throats and necks; these areas are grey in females.
Adults eat invertebrates including beetles, cicadas and mantises. At three nests observed in Ranomafana in southeastern Madagascar, both sexes incubated, brooded and fed the young.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
