A woodcreeper of montane forests from Mexico through Central America. It is recognized by its spotted crown, slender curved bill, and habit of climbing trunks to search for food.
About 21.5 cm long, with a spotted crown, olive-brown upperparts finely streaked on the upper back, heavily streaked underparts, and a slender decurved bill.
It occupies mossy mountain forest and nearby semi-open woodland and clearings, from about 1,000 m to the timberline. It climbs trunks and branches, extracting spiders and insects from bark or moss, and may join mixed-species flocks.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
