This tree-living rodent occurs in the upper Orinoco region of eastern Colombia and Venezuela. Records describe it in lowland evergreen forest near streams, mostly in trees.
A yellow stripe runs across the head between the eyes and ears, becoming grayer toward the back. A black band crosses the nape, with a pale patch behind each ear.
Observations in Venezuela place it in streamside lowland evergreen forest. It spent most of its time in trees and rarely came to the ground.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
