This foliage-gleaner is restricted to northern Venezuela's coastal mountains. It often forages in the forest understory alone or in pairs.
It is about 17–19 cm long, with heavily streaked plumage, a faint supercilium, and a wedge-shaped bill.
It feeds mainly on arthropods in the understory. It is usually found singly or in pairs and sometimes follows army-ant swarms.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
