The Cream-backed Woodpecker inhabits open woodland and savanna in South America. It is marked by a black body, red head and pale triangular patch on the back.
Most of the body is black, the head is red, and a large pale cream triangle marks the back.
It eats beetle larvae and adult beetles found in wood, and excavates nest cavities in trees.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
