This small monarch flycatcher lives in Tanimbar forest. Its black-and-white pattern is striking, and it searches for insects in trees.
It weighs about 20 g. Bold white marks cross the black face, and a broad white panel crosses the black wings. The tail and underparts are white, with a black throat; females show more facial white and may have a rosy breast wash.
It moves high in lowland and foothill forest, alone or in pairs. It sometimes joins mixed-species flocks and gleans invertebrates in trees.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
