The Indian spotted chevrotain is a small hoofed mammal of Sri Lanka’s dry zone. It moves alone at night, with pale stripes or rows of spots across its brown back.
Its back is brown to dark brown and its belly is white. Four or five pale stripes or rows of spots cross the back, and it has large eyes.
It is nocturnal and solitary, browsing in the understory. Fallen fruit is its main food, and it also takes young leaves and shoots.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
