A small brown bird that hides in reedbeds and dense scrub near water. It is difficult to see, but its loud, abrupt song can reveal its presence.
It has warm brown upperparts, pale grey-white underparts, a light eyebrow, and a cream throat. Its body is stout and its tail is long and rounded.
It hides in dense waterside scrub and reedbeds, searching near the ground for insects, larvae, spiders, molluscs, and worms. In Britain it has been recorded in both the breeding and winter seasons.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
