This cuckoo-dove occurs on the western Indonesian islands of Nias, Mentawai and Simeulue. A 2016 bioacoustic study lists forms from those three island groups separately.
In adult specimens from Nias, the male was recorded with a red iris, while the female had a white iris edged in red. The account also noted a green gloss on the adult male’s mantle.
The species account describes it as sedentary, associated with forest and dense tree cover, and feeding on fruit.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
