The Black-chested Jay has a blue nape and tail, a dark chest, and pale underparts. It searches forest canopies for fruit and insects and may move in small groups.
The head is black with blue spots above and below the eye and a blue malar stripe. The nape and tail are bright blue, the breast is dark, the lower underparts pale, and the eye yellow.
It eats fruit, berries, insects, and occasionally small lizards and frogs. Small groups move concealed in foliage and may follow army ants to catch insects flushed by them.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
