The Grey-crowned Crocias is confined to a small area around Vietnam's Da Lat Plateau. It has a gray crown and long tail and searches the middle and upper forest layers for small invertebrates.
It is about 22 cm long, with a gray crown, black facial mask, whitish underparts, bold dark flank streaks, and a gray tail tipped white.
During observations at Chu Yang Sin in March–April 1995, birds foraged mainly in the canopy of evergreen broadleaf forest. They moved rapidly through new and dead foliage on outer branches, usually alone or in twos among mixed-species flocks.
At Chu Yang Sin on 31 March 1995, a bird held a large green caterpillar against a branch with its foot, pecked it and struck it against the branch before eating it.
The mantle and rump are rufous-orange, with dark streaks along the feather centres.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
