This rat is reported from montane wetlands. The1953 description gives adults a dark yellowish-brown back, brighter sides and pale olive-buff underparts.
The 1953 original description says the back is dark yellowish brown, with brighter sides and pale olive-buff underparts; dorsal hairs have ochre bands and black tips.
The species entry in HMW Volume 7 lists montane wetlands as its habitat.
