The Chestnut-sided Warbler is a small bird of young deciduous woods and thickets. Its plumage changes between breeding and nonbreeding seasons.

  • East Javan Langur Trachypithecus auratus

The East Javan langur moves through trees with its long tail and mainly eats young leaves. Its coat occurs in black and reddish forms.

  • Plain-backed Antpitta Grallaria haplonota

This antpitta forages on the floor of humid montane forest in the northeastern Andes. It has dusky, faintly scaled upperparts and a rufous underside with soft dark blotches.

  • Idaho Ground Squirrel Urocitellus brunneus

This Idaho ground squirrel occurs in Adams and Valley Counties. It has a reddish-brown back with faint pale spots. Adult males emerge above ground first, followed by females and yearlings, and the animals later enter seasonal hibernation.

  • Slaty-tailed Trogon Trogon massena

The Slaty-tailed Trogon is a forest bird with different plumage in males and females. In the Costa Rican account, the male has a green head and back with a red breast and belly, while the female is mostly dark gray.

  • Isabelle's Serotine Eptesicus (Cnephaeus) isabellinus

Eptesicus isabellinus is recorded from southern Iberia into northwestern Africa. Its account lists environments from Mediterranean woodland to semidesert.

  • Coppery-tailed Coucal Centropus cupreicaudus

The Coppery-tailed Coucal is a large cuckoo relative of wetlands and dense cover in central and southern Africa. It searches for small animals on the ground.

  • Cozumelan Golden Bat Mimon cozumelae

Cozumelan golden bats have been reported mainly in Central America. Coat color alone may not separate them reliably from close relatives, and one Belize specimen is the basis for a published DNA diet record.

  • Regent Bowerbird Sericulus chrysocephalus

The Regent Bowerbird lives in rainforests and gullies of eastern Australia. Males build a decorated bower, and the birds eat fruit and insects.

  • Müller's Rat Sundamys muelleri

Müller's rat has long, rough brown fur and a dark tail longer than its body. It is mainly nocturnal and ground-dwelling, but also climbs into low vegetation.

  • Yellow-legged Tinamou Crypturellus noctivagus

A 2016 taxonomic reassessment separated two Brazilian forms previously grouped together as Yellow-legged Tinamou: Crypturellus noctivagus and C. zabele. This entry follows the Atlantic Forest form, C. noctivagus. A 2019 distribution study used the broader earlier concept, so its map should not be read as the range of C. noctivagus alone under the later treatment.

  • Djungarian hamster Phodopus sungorus

A small hamster originating in Kazakhstan and southwestern Siberia. It carries material in large cheek pouches.

  • Black Munia Lonchura stygia
