The striped bandicoot is a New Guinean bandicoot with a long tail tipped in white. The dorsal stripe varies in prominence across the forms described in the taxonomic study.
Head-and-body length is 250–290 mm and tail length is 160–205 mm. The tail tip is white, and the dorsal stripe ranges from faint to pronounced.
Records extend from the Vogelkop Peninsula to the Central Cordillera of New Guinea. Cave deposits below 1,000 m in Vogelkop suggest it may also occur at lower elevations. The taxonomic paper does not describe diet or daily activity.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
