This honeyeater occurs in northern Australia and around New Guinea. It has an olive back, a pale cream-colored belly, a white iris with a pale eye-ring, and feeds among foliage, moving from tree to tree.
The upperparts are olive, the head slightly grayer, and the underparts pale buff-yellow. A cream-colored ring surrounds the white iris.
In July 1986 at Iron Range, Queensland, birds searched vine-forest foliage beside a clearing, from the canopy down to about 2–3 m. They moved between trees and fluttered or hovered while feeding; groups were recorded only in winter.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
