The Red-breasted Swallow is a sub-Saharan African swallow with rufous underparts and long tail streamers. Females and juveniles differ in their streamers or plumage, and seasonal movements vary by region.
Adults have rufous facial and underparts, blue-black upperparts, and long, slender outer tail feathers. Females have shorter streamers than males, and juveniles are duller.
It catches flying insects and may search low over the ground or hover above bushes. It is partly migratory, while some populations are resident.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
