This lark is restricted to a small area of northern Tanzania. Checklists have changed its rank; this account follows the current split treatment as Chersomanes beesleyi.
The male has a slender, decurved bill, a long straight hind claw, a white eyebrow and eye-ring, and dark-brown upperparts edged pale. Its short tail has white-tipped feathers.
It inhabits treeless short-grass plains, feeding on beetles, caterpillars, and seeds.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
