This small tyrant flycatcher has a disjunct distribution across South American grasslands. It is recorded in low grassland with scattered scrub near water.
The Cambridge paper cites an earlier description of the bird as a very small, buff-coloured flycatcher. That description does not give detailed sex-specific plumage.
It catches insects in lowland grassland near water, making short sallies from a perch. Argentine populations migrate seasonally, arriving around October or November and remaining until February or April. In central-eastern Argentina, nesting is reported around December, commonly in thistles, with a clutch of three eggs.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
