The little pratincole is a small bird that catches insects while flying over water and farmland. It is also recorded along Thai rivers and lakeshores.
Its back is pale grey. In flight, a broad white band and black wing tips are conspicuous. The throat and chest are sandy colored. The bill is black with a red gape; the legs and feet are black. There is no black band around the neck.
Thai records describe it catching flying insects over fields, grassland, and places near water. It may also forage close to the ground or water surface.
The Thai account gives April–June as the breeding period. Nests are shallow scrapes on the ground or rubbish heaps; a clutch has 2–3 eggs and incubation lasts 16–18 days.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
