The White-faced Starling is endemic to Sri Lanka and has a white face with glossy black-green wings. It searches for fruit and nectar high in the canopy of wet forest.
The forehead, sides of the face, chin, and throat are white, and the crown and nape feathers are long and raised. The back, wings, and tail are black with a green sheen; the sexes look alike.
It is arboreal and searches for food in the crowns of large trees. It favors rainforest but also visits nearby fruit plantations and village plantings.
Fruit is its main food, with nectar and insects also recorded. It forages in pairs, small flocks, and sometimes larger mixed-species gatherings.
