The lesser fairy armadillo is a small armadillo that lives in underground burrows. Its back is covered by pale pinkish-ochre armor, and it inhabits dry sandy areas of central Argentina.
Its pale pinkish-ochre armor is attached only along the midline of the back. Soft white fur covers the face, sides, and underside, and the tail tip is spatula-shaped.
It is mainly active at dusk and night, digging underground passages with strong foreclaws. It finds food by smell and mainly eats ants, earthworms, slugs, and beetles, as well as some seeds and roots.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
