Hinde's pouched rat is a relatively large, burrowing rodent that eats a range of plant matter, including seeds and roots. It has been studied in a montane forest reserve in southern Tanzania.
In the Mount Rungwe study, this species was classified as relatively large among the four rodents compared.
It is fossorial and eats seeds, grains, roots, and tubers. In the Mount Rungwe study, seeds and grains made up a large part of its diet.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
