The Mariqua Sunbird shows strong differences in plumage between males and females. It feeds on nectar and uses dry acacia savanna and other wooded habitats.
Adult males have metallic green heads, throats, and backs, with dark blue-violet and purple-brown breast bands. Females are brown above and pale yellow-brown below.
It drinks nectar and also eats fruit, insects, and spiders. It may hover at flowers and forage alone, in pairs, or with other sunbirds.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
