This small marsupial is recorded on Kangaroo Island in South Australia. Surveys found it in several vegetation types, including open low mallee, and reported night-time feeding on ground-dwelling invertebrates.
The back is dark sooty gray and the underside light gray. The head is paler with faint markings; the slender pointed muzzle and thin, bicolored tail longer than the body are distinctive.
Day shelters recorded in a limited tracking study included under the fronds of yaccas, leaf litter beneath banksias, and holes or burrows. At night it forages for ground-dwelling arthropods; preliminary scat analysis recorded spiders and ants most often, as well as beetles and scorpions.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
