The Thick-billed Cuckoo has a heavy bill and pale underparts. It is patchily distributed across sub-Saharan Africa and Madagascar and feeds mainly on caterpillars.
Adults are gray above and white below, with white lores, a narrow yellow eye-ring, and a brown-and-black barred tail. The sexes are similar; juveniles have conspicuous white spots above.
It uses woodland and riverine forest, feeding on insects, especially hairy caterpillars. It is a brood parasite that lays eggs in other birds' nests.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
