This rarely recorded bamboo rat lives in Andean cloud forest and has been observed in trees.
An animal photographed in Bolivia had a yellow-brown back with an olive tint and a long, partly furred tail.
The authors recorded it active in trees; one animal was observed at 21:30 gnawing a tree-fern trunk. Bamboo grew nearby, but the study did not establish it as the animal’s main food.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
