This tree rat lives in lowland forests of the Guianas and eastern Amazonia and spends much of its time in trees.
Its upperparts have grey-brown spiny fur, its face has a pale blaze, and the tail ends in white hairs.
It is nocturnal and usually solitary in trees. In mature lowland forest it eats fruit and possibly leaves, and it has been recorded nesting in tree holes.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
