The Tanahjampea Monarch is restricted to one Indonesian island and uses lowland forest, mangroves and moist shrubland.
About 14 cm long, adults are black on the head, chest and upperparts, with white underparts, rump and outer tail. Immatures are browner and may have an ochre rump.
It is found alone or in pairs and often joins mixed-species flocks. Calls include repeated plaintive whistles and harsher metallic notes.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
