An owl with rusty upperparts, white eyebrows, and a broad white throat band, found in the central and northern Solomon Islands.
The upperparts are rusty, sometimes spotted or barred with white. It has a grey-brown facial disk, yellow eyes, white eyebrows, and a broad white throat band; the belly is plain cream.
It is nocturnal and roosts during the day. It uses forest, forest edges, and sometimes gardens with tall trees; pairs are known to sing duets.
