The New Guinea Bronzewing is a pigeon of New Guinea and nearby islands. It forages mainly on the ground, probing the soil with its long bill.
Adult males have a pale buff cap, a burgundy-brown neck, a dark slate back, and metallic green-gold wings with blue tones. Females are similar but slightly smaller.
It often feeds on the ground, inserting its long bill into the soil as it searches for food. It also occurs in regenerating woodland and plantations.
