The Brown-throated Parakeet varies in plumage across its range. It nests in arboreal termite mounds and gathers in flocks where food is abundant.
Adults of the nominate subspecies are mainly green, with orange-yellow on the forehead, around the eyes, and along the sides of the head. The throat and upper breast are pale olive-brown, the belly has orange marks, and the eye is yellow.
It usually nests in arboreal termite mounds, but also uses rock crevices and bank burrows. Where food is abundant it feeds in flocks with other parrots and gathers at communal roosts.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
