This sunbird lives in Tanzania's mountain forests. Males have a red breast band, and birds search for nectar and small insects high in trees.
Males are iridescent green and yellow above, with an inconspicuous red band across the grey breast. Females are olive above and greyish yellow below.
In a Tanzanian forest survey, birds were recorded in the canopy and subcanopy of mature trees and along forest clearings and edges. At Luago one bird fed on Erythrina nectar; other observations recorded insects gleaned from moss, leaves, and lichen.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
