The Yellow-throated Fiji Whistler occurs on Fiji's islands. Male breast bands differ among island forms, and a tour account recorded very vocal birds on Taveuni.
Males of the Taveuni subspecies torquata have a yellow throat and black breast band. On Viti Levu, some males of subspecies graeffii were reported with little or no breast band and almost black upperparts.
The Taveuni subspecies torquata was described as very vocal during the Field Guides visit.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
