The Hausa genet is a small viverrid found in West African savannas and moist woodlands. A reddish line along its back and alternating light and dark rings on its tail help identify its coat pattern.
Its coat is reddish brown. A darker line runs along the middle of the back and is often crossed lengthwise by a brighter line. Alternating pale and dark rings continue along the tail, which has a dark tip.
The Animal Diversity Web account describes genets generally as active at night and feeding mainly on small mammals and insects. The sources checked here do not separate those observations for the Hausa genet itself.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
