The Regent Whistler is marked by a male’s black head and yellow collar and a female’s gray head. It stays year-round in New Guinea’s mountains and feeds mainly on insects.
Males have a black head and breast, a yellow hindneck collar, a white throat, dark olive upperparts, and yellow to partly orange underparts. Females have a gray head and an olive band across the lower breast; juveniles are reddish chestnut.
It stays in moist montane forest on New Guinea and gleans insects from foliage; it sometimes eats seeds as well.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
