The Sunda Scimitar-Babbler occurs on Borneo, Sumatra, and the Malay Peninsula. It is treated as a species separate from the Javan Scimitar-Babbler and has a long downcurved bill.
It is marked by a long, downcurved bill and a chestnut back.
It uses the understory of lowland and hill forest, probing leaf litter and bark crevices with its curved bill for invertebrates. It often forages low, usually in pairs.
