The Altai mountain weasel lives in Asian mountain regions. Its coat changes with the seasons, with different back colors in winter and summer.
In winter, the back is yellowish brown to reddish brown, while the throat and belly are pale yellow to cream. The summer coat is gray to gray-brown, and subspecies also differ in shade.
It hunts mainly at night, though it sometimes hunts by day. It can run, climb, and swim.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
