A scimitar babbler described from specimens collected in northern Myanmar. The description notes a long, curved bill and no breast band.
The original specimens were dark brown above and white below, with dark brown sides, flanks, and undertail coverts. They lacked a breast band and had a longer, more decurved bill than the related species.
The authors identified the understory of premontane temperate rainforest, or cloud forest, as the principal habitat. All three collected birds were mist-netted within one metre of the ground in relatively undisturbed primary forest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
