Forpus spengeli is a small parrot recorded in northern Colombia. A Colombian taxonomic and distribution review reports it from dry savanna, open woodland, and scrub.
Males have blue on the wing coverts and rump. The review notes that the blue on the wing is restricted mainly to the coverts.
In inland northern Colombia, it is reported from dry savanna, open woodland, and scrubby areas.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
