This small bulbul inhabits montane forest in northeastern Tanzania. A study of the formerly broad Phyllastrephus debilis complex distinguished albigula as a separate montane lineage.
The albigula lineage has a green head, dark-grey throat, breast, and flanks, a narrow white belly, and bright yellow on the wing lining.
The study treated albigula in mature montane forest in the Usambara and Nguru Mountains. Its sampled forest belt was above 600 m.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
