This pocket gopher lives underground in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Its coat ranges from dark brown to reddish brown, and some individuals have a white throat patch.
The back ranges from sooty brown to bright reddish brown; the underside is lead-colored, and an irregular white patch may occur on the throat.
It excavates complex burrow systems that may exceed 240 m in total length. In 16 excavated systems, tunnels were about 5–13 cm wide and 8–91 cm below ground. It cuts roots and green leaves and carries them underground to eat or store.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
