Pinon's Imperial Pigeon is a large bird with a grey-lavender body, darker wings, a maroon belly and a vivid red eye region. In forests across New Guinea and nearby islands, it feeds mainly on fruit in the canopy.
Its body is grey with a lavender tinge, its wings and tail are darker, and its belly and undertail are deep chestnut. The iris and bare skin around the eye are vivid red; the sexes look alike.
It feeds mainly on fruit and berries, sometimes swallowing large forest fruits whole, and usually forages in the canopy.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
