This large laughingthrush is endemic to southwestern Cambodia. It lives in moist lowland and montane forest and forages close to the ground in leaf litter.
It is about 28–31.5 cm long. The crown is dull ochre-tinged brown, the face and breast glossy black, the orbital skin pale blue, and a white patch sits behind the ear-coverts.
Groups of ten or more forage mostly near the ground in leaf litter. The species' diet is not well known.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
