This small flycatcher lives in Andean forests. It perches in the lower or middle levels and makes short flights to catch insects, often near forest edges.
The guide describes olive upperparts, dark wings and tail, two wing-bars, and yellow underparts. It notes a concealed golden crown patch in males.
In the guide’s Colombian study area it is often found at forest edges, alone, in pairs, or in small groups. Birds make short sallies from low or mid-level perches to take insects and are less often recorded in forest interiors.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
