The Hairy Woodpecker is a North American woodpecker that searches for insects while moving along tree trunks.
In eastern North American birds, the black wings have white spots and the back has a white stripe. Adult males have a red mark near the rear of the head.
It climbs trunks and searches under bark for insects and larvae.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
